In SLC I ran into a slight variation....two chatty friends doing a slow stroll side-by-side along the walkway - oblivious to those behind them who might be trying to make a connection.

...

A couple pet peeves of mine:

Passengers who stuff the seatback pocket with so much junk they can't lock the tray table, so when it comes time to store the table they had to slam it against the seat with force, disturbing my sleep.

Passengers who get up by grabbing onto the back of mine seat. This is especialy bad if the passenger happens to be a woman with long fingernails, as I am quite tall, and sometimes their nails actually scratch my scalp.

Passengers in aisle seats who extend their legs into the aisle. I know the pitch is tight, but that is no reason to trip people up. Sometimes I wish the food cart would run over these people's legs, that will teach them.

You mean little Keightleighnne, don'tcha?

(that's Kate-Lynn or Caitlin for those of you not attuned to today's kre8ive spellings...I'd LOVE to see a young child actually named "Joey" right about now...) (sorry, topic for a different rant/thread, but I couldn't help myself...)

The term is "braggarts," anyway, for reasons unknown
to me. How about people who correct your grammar,
spelling, punctuation, and/or usage?

MollyNYC Jan 2, 2007 7:39 am

My list:

1. The person behind me who uses the back of my seat for leverage to get up and jerks the seat back and often pulls my hair at the same time!
Use your arm rests idiot, that's what they're for!
This same person, often walks up/down the aisle pulling the tops of everyone else's chair too.
I realize that sometimes if you're not feeling steady, it's okay to gentley rest your hand on top of the seat, but the seated person should not have to feel like they're being catapulted into the seat in front of them!

2. Pax who are pigs in the bathroom. If you made an area wet, dry it off before you leave! And men, you're NOT at home and I'm not your wife.....put the seat down when you've finished!

3. Parents who don't correct their children who are kicking the seat in front of them.

4.Parents who don't instruct their kids on the difference of "indoor" voice vs. loud, outdoor voice!

Dear very large and wide fellow passenger:

Please Sir or Madam,
If your body cannot fit reasonably well into one (1) single coach seat on Southwest Airlines, or upon any regional jet; please do the right thing, and consider buying two (2) seats, or as many seats that it takes to reasonably store your vast wide frame. You see, most of the rest of us need at least one (1) full coach seat of our very own to place both cheeks of our butts, one regulation size stomach, two regulation size legs, and at least one of our very own regulation size arms. If you are flying on American, Northwest, Delta, etc., please make the investment into a first class seat. You will be more comfortable, and.....so will we.

Appreciatively,

Dear 3AK,

Umm, NO.

Sincerely,
Every Corporate Travel Policy Ever Written

(I'm not overweight myself, but let's not unconditionally blame passengers for the policies that we're required to follow.)

Smelly feet

People taking their shoes off to get comfortable on a long flight and you have to smell their stinky feet!!
The fingernail painter in the middle of the aircraft that everyone can smell, even up front!

I hate the whiners who want compensation for every little delay or inconvienience as well as those who always want airlines to bend rules just because they wanted the cheapest fare, but no additional fees for changes or all thier money back if they can't take the trip...

Also Tourists...

Everyone else on the airplane!

How about *anyone* that doesn't know the difference between an indoor and an outdoor voice, regardless of age?

I've always found that a purposeful "Excuse me" or "Coming through" will get most people to move aside.

Cell phone users.

"Hello. Can you hear me? I just landed. Yes, it was a bumpy ride and the food was awful/non-existent. Blah blah..."

and in general, cell phone usage on airplanes or in airline clubs

Indeed, a list of air travel cliches, as someone noted above

MiamiAirport Formerly NY George Jan 2, 2007 2:19 pm

As probably many posters have said the "gate lice" that crowd and block the boarding area when Fand elite members (or group 1 depending upon the carrier) are trying to board. I really get irate (and show it) when they try to play dumb and board with F paxs. Unfortunately, too many times GAs allow it to happen rather telling them to sit down and shut up until their group number/rows are called.

I strongly disagree. If the Airlines do not pay financially for all their silly mistakes and mismanagement then things will only get worse. If people do not complain loudly when service is poor the Airlines will continue their old tricks. Complain loud and often!

erdehoff Jan 2, 2007 5:27 pm

I really, really hate it when fellow pax feel the need to trim their nails at their seat (finger or toe -- I haven't seen the toenails thing myself, but a friend did, and in F!).

Ditto to most of the other complaints already listed, especially about gum-snappers, slow walkers and pint-size seat-kickers.

RustyC Jan 2, 2007 8:29 pm

I notice quite a few of these posts deal with behavior of other passengers while they are in their seat. It might be useful to ask, "Of those, how many are magnified in annoyance when the seats are closer together width-wise and/or with less pitch?" And how many are more likely to pop up the longer the trip?

Seems like the crammed coach seating on some carriers throws gas on the fire.
