Cell phones. Turn the darn thing off when you get on the plane. I don't want to hear you chatting it up while I wait.

JUST STAY IN YOUR SEAT FOR ANOTHER FEW MINUTES! I don't get it.

There is a perfect reason for that. if when the moment to move comes if as many people are ready to move then debarking is much quicker. If everyone stayed seated until it was their turn it would take twice as long to empty out.

I am a steadfast believer in up as soon as possible. I detest those that have the room to get up and be ready but don't, then when the seats ahead of them clear stand up and clog the aisle as they gather their belongings from the overhead. It's like golf, if you can't keep up with the person ahead of you you are lagging. If you feel it's silly to stand at the earliest moment then you have forfeited your spot in line.

Amen^ Get out - if you are not standing up there will be a delay when getting out three minutes later.

Oh, I know you! You're the tailgating guy behind me who just has to get around me in traffic (not that I'm a slowpoke; I'll do 75+ if I can get away with it) only to get stuck with the rest of us at the next light or traffic backup. Anyway I'm not talking about waiting until the rows in front of me have competely cleared. I mean, since when do they ever open the door the second the plane shuts down? I guess I just have a thing against crowd mentality. My bad.

This makes sense as the flow starts to get near you, but there's no point in 83K leaping to his feet moments before the plane stops.

But still, the aisle is not wide enough for 6 people from a typical narrowbody row to be up and at 'em at the same time. I'm absolutely going to grab my bag as I step out of my row, not 10 minutes before where it ends up resting on someone's head. Yes, I can do it quickly.

Pet peeve? Pretty much every other traveler I've ever encountered.

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

My pet peeves with travelling pretty much all stem from my fellow travellers.Whether they forget to have their ziploc bag ready at security or hide their BP in the deepest secret pocket of their carry on or.....

Well... If you're arriving at SVO, I see no issue with jumping up a second *before* the plane stops, grabbing your bags and running to the door - this means you'll spend less time waiting in line at immigration and customs (can be treacherous).

I once heard flying described as "Long periods of boredom broken up by short periods of sheer terror", oslt.

Two annoying ones:

Those endlessly recurring announcements.

Gate agents who don't understand the concept of "last and final."

Cheers,

Adrian

I was once three rows back from a gentleman who also had a very noticeable problem with flatulence, only you didn't hear giggling from him when he released, you could hear groans from the pax in the 10 rows behind him. For three hours. I have never smelled anything so bad in my life. And then had to re-smell it 5-10 minutes later.

Then, a girl in the row in front of us decided that it would be brilliant to spray her perfume into the airflow coming from the fans above, which of course meant that her perfume blew all over OUR row, and honestly didn't help the foul odor for very long. (And perfume STINGS when it gets in your eyes.)

Full flight too, and I was in a middle seat. It was a blast. ;)

My main pet peeve is people who automatically give me a dirty look because I'm bringing my toddler/baby onto a plane, as if I do it to specifically annoy them. My 20 month old has been on more than 20 flight segments in her life, and two cruises, and is better behaved than some adults I've seen. The kid falls asleep upon takeoff and wakes up upon landing EVERY TIME, whether it's an island hop or a long haul across the Pacific, and doesn't make a sound in between.

That said, I've traveled with some friends and their obnoxious children, so I understand that my "perfect angel" ;) may be the exception to the rule.

Speaking of traveling with kids, it would be nice to get through security without having to hear huge sighs and comments from the folks behind me. Most of the time, my toddler and I travel alone. I have a stroller, a laptop, and then the kid to take care of. Unfortunately, that means it takes some time to get everything broken down and through security and put back together. I do my best to get out of people's way, but it's not MY fault that I have to fold everything up to get it through the x-ray machine.

The people who glare at you with contempt if you happen to stand still on the travelator and impede their progress by 0.5 seconds.

OK I fancy a rest, if you're in so much of a hurry walk on the footpath next to the travelator.

It's been about for a while.

I believe it's a Registered Trade Mark of Otis or one of the other major escalator manufacturers.
