Jet Lag

The effects of jet lag when traveling Americas to Middle East is just horrible for me for the first week. Oddly enough, right around 2 pm or so (local time Middle East) I hit a "wall" and have a very very hard time staying alert (even staying awake). The crazy thing about that is that its 7 am in my home time zone at that time ... I would have thought Id be in better shape at that point.

What are the best ways to minimize the effects?

you'll get as many different answers to your question as there are posters.

so perhaps there is no answer. after 35 years of rtw travel, i haven't figured it out, and it remains an inconsistent phenomenon.
