Avoding Expedia Ticket change fee

Hi,
I need to change the return date on a ticket BOS-LON that I bought a couple of days ago via expedia. I want to push the return date back two weeks. I checked the fares and there is no fare increase between the two.

Expedia claims that they want $230 for the date change. I called Air Canada and they charge $35 for the date change (plus fare increase if any).

The $230 is ridicilous for changing the return date for a flight that's the same fare, same class, same airline and everything.

My question is: Is there a way I can change via Air Canada directly or avoid the $230 fee. I'm cmon, isn't it a bit too much?

Thanks,
George

Hard to tell without knowing all the details. You agreed to abide by Expedia's rules when you bought the ticket, so they will probably be entitled to what they are asking for. Your odds of getting the airline to make your changes directly increase greatly after you've flown the outbound...call them up and ask them to make the changes for you. Good luck & book directly with the airline in the future!
