Angry Jealous bosses

Anybody else have a jealous boss that purposely puts you in a non-Hilton hotel because you get better upgrades at Hilton than he does?

My boss is Silver and I am gold and always get the Exec Level and many times a suite. He gets neither. So, today he is deciding where we should stay and notes that I would absolutely prefer the Hilton and picks Wyndham.

It should be noted that I will be there an entire week while everyone else will be there for 1 night.

My boss would be understanding if I were to ask to stay there the 1 night with everyone else and move to my preferred hotel the other nights. Worth a try depending on how bad a boss you have.

Your boss in a jerk. This is one way he shows you who's boss. I'm guessing there are others. The only way this would be acceptable is if he selected a property based on his higher status. Find a new job immediately.

Over-reaction? Admittedly it is a mild annoyance but if this is the extent of his 'jerkness' then the wood has been lost from the trees.

It sounds like it's time to get working on that resume!

I guess the next time you travel together and stay at a Hilton property, you don't let him know you have a better room. I suspect you made fun of the situation one too many times and he is getting even on this trip.

Nope, because the last time I had a boss who was involved in choosing my hotels (a long while ago), I made sure he received elite status and all that went with it at the same time I did.

Sure, bosses can suck sometimes, but so can employees. (Not saying you do, but, some do.) When I've looked out for them as much as I expected them to look out for me, well, we all got upgraded together.

Thankfully I dont have this issue. Since I get domestic upgrades
on flight and the hotels, my boss prefers to schedule the travel time
with me to get free upgrades to F/C.

Offer your boss your room for the one night he is there.

I do not consider the Wyndham to be a bad hotel chain.. it's actually quite pleasant on average!

I think this is just his way at getting back at me for agitating him about having better status.

He is a new manager and he promoted me to be right underneath him and manage everyone else. He just made a comment that he knew I preferred the Hilton and then I got my itenerary showing Wyndham and asked him what it was all about. He said that I needed to open my horizons for a change and smirked.

I think he is intimidated by me and this is somewhat of a chessy way for him to feel like he is the man. Oh well, not enough to quit over, but it annoying to say the least. I'm tempted to call and cancel 4 nights of the Wyndham reservation and just stay at the Hilton until the night everyone else gets into town.

Happens to me all the time. It is usually a matter of one car, 2 different programs (marriot/Hilton)My solution: Book 2 rooms under my Diamond status, get the free room upgrades then at check-in change the name and HH # to the boss for his/her room. No skin off my back and he/she is a happy camper..in-fact encourages us to stay at Hilton now

You need a course in "managing your manager"
