Boarding on the right hand side of the plane..
This may be a silly question, but it got me thinking one day.
Has anybody ever boarded an aircraft on the right hand side?
I`ve actually never seen it nor heard of it.
Any views or answers for that?

Several years ago. It was a UA redeye to ORD from SMF. The ramprats had blocked the jetway access with another plane that was overnighting and the "normal" door,L1, was blocked by that plane.
We boarded via stairs through the 1st class galley door. It is a bit shorter so most had to duck a bit.

Actually, TWA used to board their 747's and L-1011's from the right hand side at certain gates at JFK. It was strange to enter the aircraft and be somewhere you didn't expect to be!

from a wheelchair lift...
I'm frequently boarded through a starboard door as a wheelchair pax. The lift truck will drive around to that side and coordinate with the caterers and such. This doesn't happen in the US, but seems to be SOP at many stations in Europe and Africa.
Probably not what you had in mind, but it does meet the question.

Theres a picture on www.airliners.net of an Aer Lingus 747 at Shannon, taken in the 70s where you can see the air bridge connected to the right hand side.
I was going to post the direct link to the picture, but when I copied & pasted the link it was just crazy. So perhaps if you go there & do a search for Aer Lingus at SNN, the photo should be at the bottom of page "1"
