There’s a picture on www.airliners.net of an Aer Lingus 747 at Shannon, taken in the 70’s where you can see the air bridge connected to the right hand side.

I was going to post the direct link to the picture, but when I copied & pasted the link it was just crazy. So perhaps if you go there & do a search for Aer Lingus at SNN, the photo should be at the bottom of page "1"
