GUM-DPS on 737-800.

Big shock coming from 767-400. Leg rests make the trip.

1966 Travis AFB (approx. 30 miles from SAC)-KDA. Via ANC. Tokyo
We were not allowed to get off the plane for the entire distance.

1968 KDA-HNL with an intermediate stop at Wake Island. Did get off and move around a bit on Wake.

I do JFK-SFO / LAX often on Song in a 757. I have flown a few carriers from teh east coast to Europe on the 757. I have been on an A320 operated by PrivateAir (for Swiss) from EWR to Zurich.

The worst was flying (as a journalist) with a US Coast Guard unit on a HU-25 Guardian (small, very small, no bathroom, almost no seats) from Maine to Florida 3 times non-stop (inflight refueling) . Wheels up to Wheels down was 24hrs.

It was either LAX-BOS or BOS-LAX on a 737 last year (pretty sure it was west to east, which at least cut down on the flying time thanks to tailwinds, but still!)

Better question might almost be when was the last time you flew & it WASN'T on a narrowbody?? Though, after my flights this past weekend up & down to CHO on the turboprop puddle jumpers, I'd almost be grateful for a 737-I literally couldn't stand up straight on those little things!!

I did EWR-LIM last year (thankfully in the front), which shows 3640 miles.

JFK-SNN (3081) on a 707 back in the day (I remember we had the "big plane" one way and the "little plane" the other). Could be wrong about this.

Recently, only LAX-MIA (2342), LAX-BOS (2611) and EWR-BOG (2477) are the longest. Interesting that EWR-BOG is intermediate in distance between the other two.

So, nobody here flew TWA's L-1649 Super Constellation LA-London/Paris? ~5,400 miles, with a cruising speed of just over 300mph, you do the maths...

Or other routes on the 1649 or DC-7Cs?

And no, I wasn't old enough to fly those either.

On our honeymoon - (the new) Mrs. mswtravels and I flew UA EWR-LIH on the SAME 757 - a direct flight. We were late into LAX and had very little time to strech our legs. 12+ hours. We were sooo over that flight when we reached LIH!

June 1966:

JL DC-8
HNL-HND
3853 miles (6200 kms)

About 2 months later, I received some type of certificate in the post from JL stating I had crossed the Int'l Date Line, nice touch.

Flew lots of 707's and DC8's to HNL and many 707's to Europe from LAX. As a little kid, flew DC6 & DC7 LAX/PHL.

March 1968
LAX - LHR 5456 mi
Pan Am B720

By sheer luck I got a window exit row seat with no seat in front of me. This made the 11 hours much more tolerable.

>"I will have to fly all the way to Europe on a narrow body plane"?

I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise, but I'm always amazed how many people show up for a flight, never having even a *clue* as to the airframe on which they're travelling.

Cheers,

Longest on a narrow body would have to be in July 1997
TLV-EWR on a 757 with a short stop at STN for fuel and to board 3 pax

Total distance 5680. One long flight on a 757

Have done some other transatlantic narrowbodies, but that is the longest I have done.
