WHBM, apparently that Hertz 732 had an altitude restriction of FL190 because of all the patches on the fuselage! Another 732, EI-CJI had one of FL270 for similar reason. Looking at the photo of the Hertz I am not surprised!

By the way, I've flown light aircraft much worse, myself ! It's really not an issue. |
It's all about the money!

I recently flew Jetstar (JQ) from Townsville to Sydney (TSV-SYD).They are an Aussie LCC. There were ads on the overhead bins and tray tables for Dominos Pizza. I really didn't think much of it at the time...didn't really bother me either. The ads were tastful (no pun intended) and on a velvelty surface. Me thinks we will see more of the same on our side of the pond.

Last time I flew Ryanair ex-UK, the sick bags doubled up as film development by post envelopes (presumably you were supposed to use them only for one of the two, though).

Travel free - with ads
Ryanair is offering free or basically free flights by charging for everything but the airfare, and putting ads everywhere on the plane.

If anyone saw the movie from about 2 years ago SOUL PLANE, which was quite funny, about the first African-American owned airline, in their "lower class" section in the back, the overhead bins had ads on them for Colt 45 Malt Liquor.
Oh, and the overhead bins were lockers, with combination locks on them. |

I think it'll happen too, and I also think it'll help save the airlines from bankruptcy. Fares won't decrease with costs going up, but it'll allow the airlines some solvancy and stability which would be nice. Soon they'll have rotating ads like at sports events so they can sell multiple ads per space. I mean, staring at the same ad for 2 hours is useless, when they could show 4 different ads for 30 minutes each. Oh, and add commercials to the IFE. "We interrupt this showing of Toy Story 99 for these commercials." Ugh. |
