Have you stayed in Hostels? a Hostel DO?
Looking to get discuss hostels other FT'ers have stayed at. Unfortunetly I do not know where to post this because of a lack of a forum. So here it is. I have stayed at numerous hostels in the US and Europe. Some bad some good. Taking another trip to Europe in February. Need some recommendations. Also post a reply if you like the idea of a forum that would include reviews of hostels and related topics.

I believe that our TravelBuzz forum would be the place to start with this. Since your Q concerns hostels generally. I'll move it there for further discussion. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator.

best view i've ever had at a hostel was the Mt Davis, Hong Kong Island one.. the hostel itself is a bit remote but the view of the harbor and the Lantau island bridge is golden on a clear night.
These days, can probably see HK Disney from there.

www.hostelworld.com is a great site.
I've stayed at great hostels in Costa Rica, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, Holland, and Ireland. Hostelworld gives reviews and pictures so you know what you're getting into.
My favorites:
J-Hopper in Kyoto, Japan
La Vista Serena in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

im a little dismayed by the fact that it this thread was moved so quickly. if the moderator didnt read the title all the way through, i was trying to plan an event or a DO. which if memory serves me right belongs in the community part. im specifically looking for hostels in italy, ams, germany and possibily poland.

Hostels in the US (at least in CA) always seem to have plastic mattresses, in part to deal with this issue. (not the most comfortable thing to sleep on though).
