Luckily, I accidentally spilled my soda on one of them halfway through the flight. It didn't get me wet at all, but totally soaked one of my rowmates.

I agree.....I have once in a blue moon been the middle guy and I am thin by some standards and have been squished between two larger individuals, this is not fun nor enjoyable for 2-5 hrs.

Inconsiderate people boarding Coach spilling coffee all over the guy seated in F in the Aisle. (Happened to me) she didn't even know she lost 1/2 of her coffee on me as she was looking the other direction and carrying 3 or 4 carry on bags.

Pulling up on the seat in front of you is very inconsiderate, esp in business or first where the seats are FEET away from eachother.

Have some of the Airlines in america now started to charge double for obese people? Or was that just rumours?

Trust me, it's even more uncomfortable for those of us who are overweight to sit -- we scrunch even more, (at least I do) trying to make sure we don't infringe upon another's space. Both my husband and I are large people. Not necessarily obese, but tall and broad shouldered. My husband (in high school) was 275 and 6'4", with about 6% body fat... not fat at all, and miserable on planes.

Huge shoulders make you scrunch just as much as fat people :P

When we travel together, we try to buy a third seat between us. If we can't, we get two seats together (on a 2 3 2 configuration) and we only make eachother miserable.

We, at least, are well aware that coach seats are not designed for the 'normal' American, in girth or height, and we are all miserable there :P

You are the 1% of people that acutally think about that fact. Understandable that the minority of people are 275 and 6'4'' with 6% body fat, the other 99% of people it seems are just ignorant about making themselves uncomfortable and let me have my space that I payed for.

America is getting larger and larger. I recall when the Small on McDonalds drinks were once the Medium and the Medium were once the large.

I think most people can discriminate someone who is just big versus someone who has had too many burgers.

Yes, but regardless of the cause of the discomfort, it's still there for everyone. I do wish more people would take responsibility for theirselves. If you are overweight, fine... either find a friend to travel with that doesn't mind sitting next to you, upgrade to a larger seat, or buy the seat next to you. If you are, after all that, still stuck next to someone you don't know, at least have the common courtesy to stick to your own space as much as possible. If that means leaning towards the window the whole flight, fine. I've done that many times. If that means leaning out into the aisle and getting bumped a lot, fine -- such is life. :)

Sorry to disagree, Last SAT AMS to IAD UA 777. I was in 9B. The person in 8B immediatly put his seat all the way down. I could not get out of my seat or the the pax in the window seat could not get through. . I told him that if he could move up one level it would be helpful. Nothing but a scornfull look from the old gentleman. I did enjoy playing kick the seat for two hours.

I don't want to get into one of these, "well, I don't do it that way" exchanges but, honestly, I don't understand why someone can't get up by turning half way and pushing off the back of his own seat. I'm not particularly limber and a little overweight (though I fit neatly in my own seat and don't remotely approach needing seatbelt extenders) and I have no difficulty doing this.

I will note, too, that the last time someone deliberately kicked my seat (which was a long time ago), they were met by the police when we landed, at which point I was given the option of pressing charges, if I so chose. I decided not to, but might not be so forgiving next time.

People who stand up to go to the bathroom five minutes after the FA announces that we're within 30 min of DCA and no one can stand up.

... and I'm pretty good at handling crying babies on planes... i know it's hard for the parents, but one NRT-ORD flight really got to me when a 3 yr-old was crying for 10 hours straight AND was sitting in business class while i was sitting in coach!!!

I defy you to stand up on a CO 737-900, in a window seat (not exit row) where the seat in front of you is all the way back without holding on to the seat in front of you. I've tried, I can't do it. I'm about 6' and not overweight (for my age :))

Note: given the seat pitch, if the seat in front is all the way back, and I turn half-way and push off of my own seat, I can't help but push into the seat in front. so it's pull or push, unless it's not reclined too much.

I agree, and generally never pull up on the seat in front of me either, because I find it annoying as well. The few times I've had to was when the person in front (yes, in F), put their seat back so far that getting back into my own seat was difficult without touching their seat for balance.

If I put my seat all the way back, I would fully expect someone to bump into it if they were getting in/out. in the row behind. And no, I don't expect anyone to "hold it" for four+ hours because I don't want them to touch my seat while getting out to use the bathroom. Ridiculous.

My biggest pet peeve is folks who bring nothing on board to entertain themselves with on 4 hour flights, and end up staring at me because they don't have anything else to do. FYI to those who are not clued in, staring is rude! :td:

Either bring something to read, or bring a gameboy if you don't know how to read. Don't stare at me!

My pet peeve is a Stewardess that has such a wide berth that she hits every pax in an aisle seat- up and down continuously.

My Window Blind

Curious to know what others think...some things really get on my nerves.

Perhaps my biggest is:

1) The person behind you pulling themselves up with the back of your seat, then flinging you forward like a slingshot...

2) See nickname :)

3) The person in front of you shooting back their chair to recline. Please go slow so I can adjust my laptop, and I've had my head banged a few times if I was bending down to grab something under my seat.

Any others?

I have a problem with people asking me to pull down my window blind so they can watch the movie. I prefer to read while checking on the wonderful scenery outside my window, yet I am usually subjected to little tantrums when I express my preferences. After complaining to the f/a that I was making it too hot in the cabin with my blind up, the two hung-over adults in front of me finally went to sleep. Yikes! Maybe there should be special sections for movie/cell phone/drinking buffs?

That could be perk if her berth is well proportioned. ;)
