That list would be extremely short. As a matter of record, and been documented in DOT, FAA, and especially NTSB findings, flight attendants perform as trained, and go above and beyond in their duties. Any delays or problems that occur in evacuating aircraft stem from passengers that panic and fail to follow instructions, including those self styled experts.

Aileron, since you choose to not identify yourself, your claims of expertise in this area are dubious. If you wish to fess up on your credentials you might be taken more seriously. ;)

The reason journalists don't identify themselves here is because too many of us have been burned by people who write our bosses saying we weren't nice to them. You sound like just such a person who would do that.

How many NTSB reports have you read? I have three bookshelves full.

Aileron,

I have more than one post. In fact, I have about as many as you do. Would you take me seriously?

Care to share a couple anecdotes of times where FAs caused/contributed to accidents? Just references to the NTSB reports would be fine. I'm curious to know more of what you're speaking about. Surely if these instances are as prevalent as you say it should just take a few seconds of your time to back up your assertion here with a few examples.

Help educate us.

Not wanting to get in the middle, but I can think of at least two examples where FA incompetence has contributed to total loss of life.

I think it would be very interesting if you started a thread with factual information about incidents and accidents where the flight attendant contributed to or caused an evacuation to be less than what s/he should have been able to accomplish. It would be a great learning tool for me, and perhaps many other flight attendants that frequent this board. It could save some lives.

Knowing you aren't a big fan of flight attendants, I would hope it would be a thread of common interest and education, not a place to continue flight attendant bashing.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to pay you for your expertise, but would be appreciative!

Been a while for this thread... a flight today from PDX-ORD caused me to archive and revive this thing. All have probbly been stated before inthe thread, but worth stating again...

To the guy next to me... "Shut up. I don't feel like talking."
No, I didn't say that, but I sure woulda liked to.

To the guy next to me... "Quit peering over to my laptop to see what I'm typing/doing."
That bugs the living daylights out of me. It's not that he'd see any top secret info or anything... it's more about minding your own d*mn biz.

To the guy next to me... "How's about giving up some of that armrest, eh? As a matter of fact, how 'bout moving your d*mned elbow from my side?"

To the guy next to me who's now rummaging through the overhead bin... "Get your d*mned fat stomach out of my face."

To the guy next to me who seemingly got up every 30 mins... "You see my outstretched feet there (sitting in first row before bulkhead). Why must you bump into them each time you get up and down to put your stomach in my face?"

Yes, I sat next to a very annoying pax today.

On our flight back from Paris, there were just 2 rows of 1st Class. In the front row was a Saudi Arabian man (not that that has anything to do with it, but I saw his passport & it was the day after King Fahd's funeral) with his wife. His wife slept the whole time. He stood up, leaning on the wall in front of his seat & facing back in the cabin. Everytime I woke up, everytime I looked up, he was staring at me. I could feel his eyes boring through me the entire flight. I was in the A seat, so it was obvious he wasn't staring off into the distance... Whenever my husband would wake up, he'd sit back down... really creepy way to spend a very long flight.

You, sir, are the reason why Brits (I'm inferring from your post and location) are seen as snooty people in general, and though I know it's not true, blokes like yourself do not do your countrymen any favors. It gives me great pleasure to celebrate the 4th of July.

FYI - I'm betting you think Americans have a rudimentary understanding of the English language too... last time I checked, your sentence should have been, "Americans WHO shout."

Bare Feet

Just really really gross.

I have seen it more in FC the past year than the entirety of my travelling life.

During dinner no less.

Ugh

Okay, I've read all 178 posts and I don't think this has been mentioned.

Passengers who seemingly can't survive the length of the flight (be it 45 mins or 8 hours) without a smoke and so sit in the nearest bar and store up a flight's worth of nicotine by smoking away a pack. I then end up spending the flight feeling like I'm sitting next to the Marlboro man, as my eyes water and nose runs the entire time.

Bonus: the pax who smells like a Philip-Morris factory who then gives me disgusted looks for my excessive nose blowing and dirty tissues.

What bugs me:
Kids who stand in their seat and stare at me(cute for a few seconds),but SIT down.
The "Oh I'm sorry" guy who takes my aisle seat knowing full well he had the window seat.
You are standing in line for 10 minutes and get to the front to order and you go, " I'll have a.........., let's see I'll have a.......
:(
