Minimum BOS connection time?

We were able to secure our award tickets on Delta, thanks to posters here @ FT. We're going CAK-CVG-BOS-AMS-CPH on the outbound. A bit more travel time and connections than I would have preferred, but for a savings of nearly $2,000, I can live with it. Return is better, CPH-AMS-CVG-CAK.

Looking over the itinerary, I found that my connection time in BOS is a whopping 1h 20m. This will be DL to NWA. Never having been to BOS before, will this be enough time? My real concern is more about the luggage transfer.

Your thoughts?

I would say that you will be okay. With DL now in terminal A, DL & NW are at opposite ends of the airport. That said, Logan is not really that big a place- just cramped.

If there is not an airside bus to terminal E, go outside terminal A and get on the Massport shuttle bus- white with a blue stripe, number 11. You could probably also hop on numbers 66 (dock) or 77/88 (parking) since they also stop at all 5 terminals.

If all else fails, I believe you could also walk through Central Parking to terminal E, which is a straight shot- would take about 10-15 minutes.

Walking is the easiest, and fastest, way to go (I think it's more like a 5 minute walk than a 10-15 minute walk). Go to the ticket counter level and, facing the street with your back to the ticket counters, go up the escalator on the far left (there should be a sign directing you to Central Parking, and perhaps one to Terminal E). At the top of the escalator, there will be a skybridge (with moving sidewalks) to take you to the Central Parking garage. At the end of the moving walkways, keep walking straight (I suspect there will be signs directing you to Terminal E) and you will enter the skybridge that will take you directly to Terminal E.

If you're bogged down with carryons, I'd get one of those $3 carts. The MassPort bus works, too, and I think you have plenty of time (including for your checked bags), but I would walk.

Thanks for the info! Especially about the checked bags. I just have visions of leaving for my cruise out of CPH without my luggage. Could be worse I suppose. Could leave without my credit cards!

You're very welcome. Keep in mind, however, that your bags are going to successfully have to make three connections, with two of them to different airlines. I would definitely bring a carry-on with essentials just in case!

Absolutley! We always carry a bag for the first day or so. We're also going to attach our itinerary in the event the bags do miss a connection. With any luck, they'll arrive before we sale. If not, perhaps we'll have them by the next port.

Guess it's part of the "adventure" of traveling.
