That's why there's no wars, right?

I think the truth is even more controversial. The truth is, there are only a very few people who would consider hijacking or taking over an airplane. Anyone who has looked at post 9/11 security procedures seriously agrees that a determined terrorist could still evade them. The reason that there aren't more attempts is because there aren't more people attempting. And, the reason that people didn't cause trouble when guns were alllowed on planes is because people weren't attempting.

Too often we look at weapons, and what they enable or deter. The fact is, there aren't all that many baddies out there. If there were, we'd see more transportation related crime.

Surely a more effective question is to ask each passenger at the airport between the ages of 5 and 90 :

"Are you or are you not a terrorist ?".

Then if they are found to have a bomb we shall know they are not only a terrorist, but also a liar.

Whirled Traveler - Very true ideas indeed! Unfortunately the media tries to tell people otherwise.

WHBM, I guess that would make the media liars. Is that worse than carrying a bomb? The bomb may not be set off, but the lie is damaging. :-)

murphy - Unfortunately, our government is responsible for starting wars as well. 9/11 is just the most recent time they have done so. Do you not know that FDR ordered the Navy to put all the ships in Pearl Harbor? The current admiral refused and was replaced by FDR for someone willing to move the ships as he was told. All because FDR knew that Japan intended to bomb Pearl harbor. Our government is not on our side -

Download and listen to the constitution class at this site http://constitutionpreservation.org/media.html There are seven hours of explanation and it only touches the surface. Very good beginning.
