My yougest son found an open case of condoms under the bed in a vacation rental on Edisto Island, SC a few years ago. Must have been a very big party planned. Sadly, only a few out of hundreds were missing.

My former boss also found one under his hotel bed while visiting Vegas a few years ago. The hotel gave him a a bunch of free night certificates to compensate.

Most Hotel rooms have some kind of Porn under the mattress. I used to find that all the time and once I found some panties. I stopped looking after I found a needle (Hyatt West Hollywood) also found a couple hundrad dollars in the same hotel
I have found money and drugs in a drawer.
I have also have been given rooms that other people already occupied on more that one occasion.
Once caught a couple in the midst of love making. Please chain your doors people

Bible

When you think about it a bible is a very strange thing to find in a hotel room. Who was the marketing genius who got every hotel in the Western World to put one in each room? No wonder it is the best selling fiction novel of all time.

The Hiltons used to offer Conrad Hilton's Be My Guest business autobiography in each room, IIRC.

I was once moderately surprised to find a copy of the Quran (dual language English/Arabic) at Royal Plaza on Scotts in Singapore lurking in the bedside drawer, instead of the expected Gideons Bible... the reason why only became apparent when I learned that said property happens to be owned by the Sultan of Brunei.

I believe they're paid for by the Gideon Society.

Generally correct. The Gideons distribute or place over 59,000,000 per year, which is one heckuva lot of Bibles. More on them here.

Some hotels have additional books besides the Gideon version of the Old and New Testaments. A Quran example was mentioned earlier. The Marriott chain places the Book of Mormon in all its rooms, since the Marriott family are Mormons. The Gideons aren't involved with these.
