It's pretty much the same across all airlines, no Nunchukas, Japanese throwing stars, Viking Battle Axes, etc. can be used on TO or Landing.

Besides that. I think any sort of a personal electronic device of any sort, basically if it has batteries or uses any form of electricity.

The way it's often described by FAs is that if it has an on/off switch, its use is prohibited during take-off and landings.

Whew, what a relief! My camera has an on/off button rather than a switch.

Yes, and thankfully my Nunchukas don't have an On-Off Button either!!!!

In all seriousness though, these rules do vary from Airline to Airline, & country to country. If you have serious questions, why not contact the airline's TF # directly...

I recently was told to put my laptop into the overhead instead of the seat pocket (and that was in F !!, so not a space issue)

From my American Eagle Inflight Procedures Manual:

Laptop computers are not to be valet checked at any time. Customers are permitted to carry-on their laptops. If space is limited within the cabin to accommodate the laptop, the Flight Attendant will find a suitable storage location.........NOTE: A seatback pocket is not an approved storage location.

Laptop? Seat pocket? Wouldn't that break the seat pocket?

At any rate, I always put my laptop under the seat in front of me. That way I can see it at all times and I am sure that no clod has put their wheelie bag on top of it.
