What do you make of this "terror warning"?

I am not usually an alarmist -- I flew on one of the first flights after airspace was reopened after 9/11, and I've been flying regularly and frequently ever since. I'm not sure, however, what to make of this:

http://www.drudgereport.com/abct.htm

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/6345734/

Apparently, a new threat has been delivered by tape, but not released. Details appear to conflict, but a blood path is promised.

As I said, I'm not an alarmist, but I've got a flight to SNA from SFO Friday, and a return from LAX to SFO on Sunday. I'm still going -- it's a business trip, so I have no choice. I've never worried about elevated terror threats in the past, and even flew into D.C. on an international flight during a yellow alert.

I respect the opinions of the folks who post here and, except for the occassional OMNI ruckus, cooler heads always prevail.

So . . . what do you think?

Somebody is trying to influence you or even manipulate you before the elections. No panic. The chances of you winning the grand lottery is far greater than being killed by a highly improbable terror attack

Terrorists succeeded in terrorizing Spain immediately prior to their election, so it makes sense that someone might try terrorizing the easily-spooked US population prior to ours. That, or perhaps our current leaders see opportunity to spook the population prior to our elections. Who knows?

The PP (Popular Party) lost that election not because of the attack, but because they initially tried to blame ETA, the Basque Seperatist group for the bombings.

See this article from the BBC, written after the train bombings but before the election results:

Actually, an attack pre-2 November might demonstrate how little Bush & Co. have done to make the USA secure.

When have we ever been under anything but at least a yellow alert?

Have we ever been under a blue or green alert?

That should have been "orange alert," not yellow.

No matter what your party affiiliation, please take Drudge with a grain-of-salt. This "warning" could be history in a matter of hours.

If it was only from Drudge, I'd ignore it, but MSNBC has a confirming story, as does Reuters:

http://www.reuters.co.uk/printerFrie...storyID=610615

However, now that there are a few more details, it looks a lot more like run-of-the-mill Wahibi saber-rattling.

Yeah the usual 'the streets will flow with the blood of the unbeliever!' kinda stuff. The reason they hadn't released it was they were authenticating its veracity with the CIA.

Even if something were to happen (god forbid), I don't think that these flights would be high-risk. Because they're only a short distance, the planes wouldn't have the large amount of fuel ideal for an attack (if someone was planning to fly the plane into something). Furthermore, SNA is a smaller airport than LAX so it's much less likely to be targeted.

But with SNA's landing and takeoff procedure, perhaps an emergency landing elsewhere would be preferable? Just joking. Though it does make me a bit sick everytime I take off from SNA.

The guy in the video could be Michael Moore wearing a headdress.
