One more vote for the train. In addition to all the benfits already listed I'd add one more: you can use your phone.

Almost....you can use your cell phone in every car except for those cars designated as the "Quiet Cars".

Amtrak has been touting that they make a profit in the Northeast Corridor and that the corridor is the most profitable of the entire country. Where did you get your statistic?
