a better use for the Airphone headset
Just a creative thought to share.
I wish one day airline passengers can use the airphone headset in front of their seats to communicate with someone in the same flight. Let's say the guy sitting in 3B looks cute, you just need to pick up the headset and dial 3B to textmessage him. You can also send conversation request to him, if he accepts the request, he will pick up the headset and talk to you. Better yet, if the guy in 3B does not respond to your request, you can text message the person in 3A for seat exchange.

You can, indeed, call from seat to seat on CO 767 and 777 aircraft. HOWEVER, both seats need to activate this feature in order for it to work. You can't just ring up someone at random. Also, my testing seemed to show that you can't call between two seats that are next to each other. My kids like this functionality!

On Emirates Air new Airbus 777, you can call any seat on the plane free.
Just imagine a baby screaming all night. We could call the brat's mother and scream at her for being soooo selfish. Why couldn't she and the brat stay home until the baby is old enough to fly quietly and not disturb all paying passengers around them.
Parents who drag infants onto planes are my pet peeve and they need to suffer.

And here I thought the only practical use for the handset was to beat unruly passengers. Then again, I mainly fly AA, where many of the seatbacks still have handsets, but they haven't been in operation for a couple of years now.
