HKG layover & transit?
My travel agent has confirmed me for a flight from HKG on the 15, August in the morning, but I arrive from SIN at 10PM…. So What Am I to do??? Will CX put me up in a hotel, or do I have to make a reservation at the airport hotel? How is HKG, is there place I can stay till my flight in the morning? Btw I’m flying on Economy Class…
Also, I was wondering since I have 6-7rs of wait, but I arrive 23/July 8:30HKG then connect at 4:30HKG-SIN, can I take the Hong Kong Transit Tour?
Thanks

well, you can contact CX and they should be able to assist you.
You will have time to go to the city and have a look, providing you use the airport express service. The train ride is 23 minutes from the airport to Hong Kong Island. If you travel by bus, it will take at least 70 minutes. Traffic is very heavy in Hong Kong, and you might not have enough time if you don't board the bus at least 2 - 2.5 hours before the departure.

A tip for utilizing the airport express: Buy the SAME DAY RETURN ticket at the airport customer service center or choose the SAMR DAY RETUEN option on the ticket machines. This ticket will allow you to travel from the airport to the island for HKD 100.00/ USD 12.85 and your return journey from the island to the airport for free. All you need to do is keep the ticket after the journey from the airport to the island and insert the SAME ticket into the gate when returning from the island to the airport.
HKG is a 24-hour airport, and there are plenty of open space around. More info on HKG and its facilities: http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/index.jsp

I've run into the same situation a number of times. I would book a night at the Regency airport hotel since it is a convenient 5 minute walk from the terminal. I do not really like the Regency because it is in tired shape, but the executive-level rooms are decent, with private lounge. It is rather expensive though for what you get.
But, an easy way to flop somewhere.

Yes, I will be flying from SIN-HKG on CX… That’s why I’m reluctant to make a booking, since a stopover has been added to my itinerary on my return leg… I’m coming in from COK early morning into SIN, and then do the next 5 or more hours touring…. So after arriving in HKG, I just want to rest.
Btw, the airport tour: Hong Kong Transit Tour
Itinerary Lantau Link View Point & Visitor's Centre (Tsing Ma Bridge)
Tsimshatsui Promenade (Avenue of Stars, Star Ferry Ride), Victoria Harbour & Skyline
Hollywood Road (Man Mo Temple and antique/curio shops / market)
Can it be done before in time for my HKG-SIN flight, which leaves at 4pm?

I however can't make a booking if a CD is needed... I don't have a C. Card. Not yet anyway.
Unless I can pay with Cash, then I don't know if I could make a booking at the Regal...I can't leave the airport to the city, its late night, and Its just me traveling...

Well here’s the deal, I called up CX and a rep told me, since my booking is by a travel agency, and the tickets are discounted, CX will NOT offer a Hotel Accommodation.
*However if you buy Y class tickets at regular price, CX will give you a room at the Regal…*
But Now I won’t be going because, the price is $2000, and I can’t earn any Asia Miles, and no Hotel… The travel agent told me it was $14xx so that’s why I had her make the booking, now I canceled it because now she said it was from LAX…
So now, I might for this amount just try and get SQ out of EWR or JFK and Silkair - SIN to COK....
One more thing: I saw a link in Asia Miles forum, where you can earn 250 miles, for doing this survey… And I registered and did the survey hoping to get mileages since I'll be flying CX.... At least I’ll get a real Asia Miles card out of it… LoL Instead of that internet copy…
