Haines point is a great one because it has lights and in the winter it has heated booths.

But if your on a budget you can go up to University of Maryland which is not too far away and hit there.

Hains point is usually in terrible shape due to the periodic floods that wash over the course when the potomac river surges. But i love the place because you get some great views of washington, i.e. where else can you see the washington monument from 9th tee?

The range should be fine, and being a public course, it is dirt cheap.

dirt could be used to describe almost everything at HP including the fairways.
where in DC are you looking for? White Flint in Rockville has a nice one and I like going out to Germantown (quiet...peaceful...deer to aim at around dusk)

White Flint is open from 8a-11p (except Monday, when they open at 11a) and is right next to the White Flint metro stop on the red line. I don't remember the bucket price, as I have one of their multi-bucket discount cards, but it was fair.

They've got a great staff, always happy and helpful. The teaching staff is good, too. And they've always got new demos to try.
