what are your tips for getting excercise on the road?
One thing I do is carry my bags as much as I can, rather than roll them. This really helps keep me in better shape and usually I have two bags so I can be balanced.
I also do an excercise routine in my hotel room every day.

I generally try to stay in hotels with gyms and use them. Failing that, if time and transportation allow, I try to find a decent local gym that allows day guests. Failing that, I have a set of exercies I can do in a decent-sized room with a floor I don't mind sitting/lying on.

Stay in hotels with gyms and swimming pools.
Use the stairs instead of the lifts.
I also have some pre-choreographed work outs to music which I take with me and use if there is a studio.

Depends where I'm going - but I've been known to take my skates with me, even on business trips (nothing quite beats skating round Central Park before breakfast!).
And I try to walk as much as possible - even to business appointments.

I think the two keys for me are walking everywhere, and moderating my portions when I eat out. I use the stairs whenever I can. For meals, I try to get salads with chicken or other healthy meals. All that combined has allowed me to stay in decent shape

I stretch and do unobtrusive exercises like plank position, balance challenges, Pilates V-sit, chair tricep dips, etc., while I'm waiting to board a plane. I'm about to be forced into a tiny cramped position for a few hours, so I take advantage of the room in the terminal.
(I am so glad that I don't very often need to travel in business attire!)

chain hotels -- I look for one with a gym and use it.
b&bs and inns -- I look for ones with passes to the Y.
resorts -- mostly have gyms.
In my room or in a private home -- walk, stretch, try a few yoga poses.
My next trip, I will bring one of those stretchy band things and some resistance training.

I try to find a place to run in the vicinity of my hotel.
In most parts of the world the locals are reasonably familiar with the concept, even where it's not as popular an activity as it is around Boston. The one place I got stares was running along the Bosporus in Instanbul. (The stares were never threatening, just those of anyone seeing an unfamiliar, even weird, sight.) I still wouldn't have missed that run for anything, though the smoke from ferry smokestacks and ill-maintained diesel buses was a bit overpowering at times.
I confess to not being sure I'd feel as comfortable running in some places, the above being one example, if I were female - especially not in my usual shorts-and-T-shirt outfit on warm days. (Even in my case, I think the stares were as much because an adult male bared his legs in public, off a soccer field, as they were about seeing someone running for exercise.)

If time permits, in airports like Atlanta, skip the train and walk between terminals (as anyone knows who has connected on DL in Atlanta, the odds are greater than 90% that your connecting flight will be on a different concourse

Exercise on the road
Just do it. I always take a bathing suit- never know when I'll find a pool. Also have workout clothes. Prefer a gym to running- I'm 51 and it's hard on the body. I gave in and went running in the Baltimore Inner Harbor area on a beautiful day last March and had shin splints for 3 days.
Also agree with walking whenever possible. I tend to carry a laptop plus a small tote bag on board and by the time I've wandered all over the airport I feel like I've hiked 10 miles.

My 'home' healthclub is a member of the IHRSA network which gives me access (usually with a reasonable drop-in fee to healthclubs all over the world.
