Bringing back items previously shipped

I just recently brought back items that were previously shipped by may company.

Since these items were previously shipped from the USA, I thought bringing them back would be easy. Now our stuff was taken by customs and we have to use a broker.

Anyone have similar experiences?

Yep. My brother was running merch for a band that went into Canada for a few shows. They had the merch company drop ship the merch to the venue, then boxed it all back up after the show(s). Customs confiscated it all, and they're having to to the same thing to get it back I assume...

Lots of stuff that is "made in the USA" is sold in Canada or other countries around the world, the last time I checked.

Where an item is made is of no relevance to Customs. They want to know where it was purchased, or why it is coming into the United States (even if it is for the second time).

Actually, if it was made it the USA, where it was purchased has no consequence.

Customs wants to know what customs duty to add to an item. If the item was made in the USA, there is no customs duty assciated with the item.

By the way, the broker cost me $175 and there was no customs duty owed.
