Hassles from UPS

OK, I know this is a bit left of centre, but you guys have probably come across this somewhere before.....

I'm in the middle of a ruck with UPS regarding a delay on delivery of a package, that has caused a deal to turn sour.

Has anyone had any luck regarding compensation over and above the fees paid?

Well, 1. this belongs in OMNI and not TravelBuzz and
2. UPS will usually pay you the sending fees back but they do not pay any other compensation.

Unless there was extra insurance, or unless it was something that was ruined by the delay, all you will get is probably your shipping costs back.

Are they delaying it, or was it an internationsl shipment lost in customs? If customs was invloved, you will get nothing.

Daydream,

Point taken - thanks.

As for why it got delayed, UPS simply lost the package. It was a domestic shipping, so no customs to contend with.

The delay meant funds couldn't be transferred on time, so the people I was buying the house from lost out by 100 or so, since they had to continue paying their mortgage over the weekend.

Cheers

You are lucky if you even get your fees back. I sent a package last Wednesday 1st October from MAD to FRA with DHL, which contained tender documents. The tender ran out on Monday 6th 9 am.

I paid 38 for "guaranteed next day delivery". The docs arrived - Monday the 6th at 2pm. Damage has clearly occurred.

The reason for the delay according to DHL was a missed connection, and bank holiday on Friday 3rd in Germany.

Request for a refund was refused as "guaranteed next day delivery" according to the DHL represenative in Madrid means "best effort basis". The missed connection was outside any ones control, so tough luck!
