MIA, MIA and MIA again. What a hole. What chaos and some of the rudest people I've ever met.
RUH (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) comes close - nice building but a terrible, inefficient airport.
BOM and DEL are not that special either, especially at 2am as the main bank of European flights go out. 5 out of the 7 circles I'd say.
The domestic terminal at VTE (Vientiane, Laos) is pretty deficient too.
I've never connected through LHR (living 15 miles away I've no need to), but it's not bad for O&D.

Old timers hate the place. No elder carts, and miles and miles of aisles.
Getting off a trans europe to a trans atlantic that is at the next gate still requires at least 15 minutes of fast walking to get through the immigration screen.

I arrived on LH from SFO, then transferred to a LH RJ to AMS. Signage was terrible. The arrival area was extremely disorganized, esp the passport check area. After clearing that, was basically herded down an elevated walkway to what I guess you would call a commuter terminal, which was one of the most crowded, dirty, disorganized areas I've ever seen in an airport. Was I just on the "wrong side of the tracks" so to speak?

IMHO, Domestically, LAX and MIA have to be the worst, and enough has been said on here already about them
DEN follows a close 3rd, with any NY airport making up the other 2 spots.
Are we also forgetting IAD with those intolerably long immigration waits and those &%#?@ shuttles that run between terminals
Internationally, LHR has got to be one of the worst. Having to take the bus at NRT after consistently seeming to miss a gate on SEA-NRT UA flights loses its appeal after a while
GRU is a bit of a dump, but GIG has to be one of the worst in Brasil. BKK is in dire need of a makeover.
As far as International favorites go...AKl and HKG rank right up there, along with KUL.

3. The old Denver Stapleton. Do you see a theme here? I like the older, close-in airports for their convenience.
Least Favorite:
1. The new Denver airport. Isn't it false advertising to have "Denver" in the name? How much time does one need to alot from when the door of the plane is opened until one gets on the train, gets out of the airport, gets in a cab, and after an interminable drive, gets anywhere close to downtown Denver?

My list of worst airports:
CVG - it's a pit if you're not flying Delta - and you want middle of nowhere - this is it.
IAD - it's a pit if you're flying any airline
LAX - ditto previous comments - the remote terminal stinks.
CDG - didn't like terminal 1 at all

Tods27, you're singing my song! Did you read Woody Paige's column years ago in the Post, which, in summary, said, "the only people who like Stapleton are the people who never use Stapleton!" DIA is a hugh improvement over Stapleton. To call DEN as bad or worse then MIA, DFW, (both of which I have been thru during the last two weeks), or LAX is incredible in my mind.
Your points about lack of traffic and relative distance to downtown vis a vis ORD are right on the money. And when compared with older, closer-to-downtown airports, going thru post 9/11 security hoops is a breeze at DEN when compared to the older, "carry your checked bag over there because we have no place to put our equipment where it is convenient" airports.
For its size, DEN is by far my favorite in the US. I will admit that there are many smaller airports which we all like. But I have always been glad to get back home and have this facility to use.

Having arrived, connected, and departed from LAX well over 100 times, all from terminals 6,7,8, and Bradley, I don't see the problem.
Why does everyone hate LAX so much?

I'm surprised there isn't more ill-will toward DFW, especially if you're flying AA. They actually have a radio station that rattles off flights and gates because your flight could be departing from one of *3* terminals and in some cases a 4th satellite terminal. Making your connection is akin to running a marathon, and sometimes you just can't make it from one gate to another in time.
If you have a connection and a LOT of time on your hands, you can choose from two exciting alternatives to get you there. The TRAAIN and the SKYWAALK.
The TRAAIN has the uncanny ability at times to make its riders feel like saps the moment they step on it and are underway. The TRAAIN only goes in one direction and has been known to travel at speeds that would give molasses a run for its money. You can literally out run it and in some cases out walk it. This is of course assuming that it's even working at the time.
The other is the SKYWAALK which makes me laugh just thinking about it. It only connects terminals A and B (not C - have to take the TRAAIN for that).
It's a terminal design that feels like one giant afterthought.
The good news is that SkyLink is supposed to replace the TRAAIN entirely. It's under construction.

First, I don't judge airports nearly as much on traffic or distance from city center etc. as I do on the interior of the airport itself. As in "which airport would you rather have a 4 hour layover in".
OK, that said, Some of my favorites in no particular order.
Domestic:
ATL
DEN
LAX
MIA
EWR
SAN
International:
AMS
ICN
NRT
SIN
GRU
Most all airports in Brazil except GIG
Most disliked Airports.
Domestic:
ORD
JFK
DFW
DTW
MDT
International:
MNL
MUC
GIG
And probably a lot more that I haven't seen yet

DTW is easy to maneuver through, nice on the eyes and other senses, etc. Certainly has it's negatives, but to put in on a "worst" list isn't appropriate. (It's former self, as well as the old parts, DO qualify).
"TULSA" gets added to my personal "bad" list.

In general, I agree with your assesment of LGA. However, the US Airways shuttle terminal is a notable exception. Getting in and out of there is marvelously easy. I can show up 10 minutes before a flight and not be rushed to make it.
Nuff said.
