Stuff to do in Atlanta this Labor Weekend
I posted this question in the South Forum , but I think that nobody hangs around there.
I am planning on spending this Labor Day weekend at the ATL.
What is there to do? I am staying at the Sheraton Buckhead.
Do I need to rent a car?
What are some of the festivities that are taking place.
I found an old thread about what to do in Atlanta, but it was like from 1999.
Thanks

The best thing to do is check the Friday and Saturday papers. They have a big section on concerts and other events. Public transportation is ok for getting from the airport to some places downtown and some suburban malls, but you will need a car if
you really want to get away from Atlanta.
Also, renting a car somewhere besides the airport can cost a lot less. Enterprise often has weekend rates and will deliver the car to you.

Lots to do, but very little within walking distance of the Sheraton Buckhead except a Houstons restaurant and a couple of malls. The MARTA (subway) station is a block from the hotel, but MARTA doesn't actually go anywhere useful - besides, Atlanta is a very spread out city. Your best bet is probably to rent a car at the airport.

Your in Hotlanta...you'll love it! The papers are a good idea as a resource of information, but here is my suggestion for some highlights:
Stone Mtn Park
Braves Game
CNN
Centennial Park
Buckhead Dining and Nightlife
Theatre - many to chose from
and knowing Atlanta, there is probably a fun festival to spend half-a-day.
Have Fun!
