UA/US codehare standby same day, HOW?
(Sorry - just misposted this over on MilesBuzz-United)
Have a ticket for a 12 noon flight next week which is mostly full, but now desperately need to be at destination BY noon, necessitating a 6 a.m. flight (mostly open). With all the new TSA crap, what is the procedure for standing by same day, specifically, do I go to UA (booked and ticketed on united.com) or US (the metal)? What is the charge, if any? If I stop by the airport the night before, any chance the T/A will do the change for me for the next morning's flight? I supposed it depends on the happy counter person. If I were to call to change ahead of time for the same day, earlier flight, what would the damage be? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for the advice!

Who is operating the earlier flight? If its still US, I'd go to the US counter, explain your situation and ask if you can standby. US now charges $25 to standby on a flight, you can find the rules and procedures here:

If its UA metal, I'd go to the UA counter and ask them for standby.

Hi Mike. Both flights are operated by US. Ticket sold by UA on codeshare. That was another question I had: whose standby procedures apply, buy or op? United's are much more favorable, and no fee. At least the counters are together at BWI.
