Most Comfortable Seat

I'm flying to Sydney and Aukland. Is there a specific seat/area that gives you more room/recline, etc. in Economy or Business?
The airlines I'm considering are Qantas/AirNZ/UAL

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

Generally speaking, those seats in the bulkhead rows or exit rows will be more comfortable because it is unlikely anyone will be leaning back into you and there is generally more legroom.

For a more specific answer, I recommend asking on each airline's individual board. Don't bother using the search function... the results are far too overwhelming.

NZ is said to give you the most leg room (or at least seat pitch at 34") in economy. QF is a bit skimpier (31-32") but I find the seat recline and seat back rather comfortable.

I detest the shape and limited recline of the QF "Dreamtime" BC seats so advise that you avoid that. My GF flew NZ BC (her first BC experience) and found to substandard to US's (A330 and 762). UA may end up being the best.

try seatguru.com for a description of the various configurations... I find it very useful.

The UA business seats are about as comfortable a seat as you can get. As a seat to "sit" in, its more comfortable than the F seats (and F suites) [but I still prefer to eventually be lying down on an F suite].

I am on Qantas last year in J and found I slept just as well in that cradle seat as I did on CX in F.

You might also want to try UA's Economy Plus seating which, according to my husband has one more inch than Air NZ.

These can't be pre-booked unles you have status, but they you can request it when checking in and you might be lucky.

I have flown all three airlines to and from SYD and LAX and my preference for comfort and service is Air NZ.

Most comfortable seat? The car, leaving the airport after sitting in the rear of the plane for 5 hours.
