Orlando to Palm Beach - transportation options other than (rental) car?

What are convenient, and relatively economical, transportation options between Orlando and Palm Beach, FL - for 2 adults and one 7 yr old child, if one does not want to use the car option?

Sadly, as in so many other parts of the country, there probably aren't any. You could try Amtrak (2x per day; inevitably late; delays measured in hours, not minutes) or the Greyhound bus. In either case, if you're flying in, the cost of round-trip transportation between the airport and the downtown train or bus station alone will probably be close to the cost of renting a car for the day and making the drive.

AMTRAK runs from Orlando to West Palm Beach. Will that work? AAA rate is $19 one way for an adult.
