non-rev hi-jinks
The following has been edited to conceal the actual airline:
Excerpts from a CEO's Checklist
'Revenue leakage' is costing XXXXXXXXX millions of dollars
....."We all have the same obligation when dealing with employee travel and XXXXXXXXX travel for our friends and relatives. I'll give a couple of examples.
An employee was returning from training on a positive space pass from one of our hubs to another. Instead of traveling home he called reservations and rebooked - using positive space - on a peak out-bound flight to Orlando during spring break. That action bumped a Y-class passenger who would have paid a walk-up fare.
Another employee requested that revenue management decrease the allowed booking level on a flight because the employee's parents were planning to non-rev on the flight and it was filling up. Granting that request would have cost us thousands of dollars."

Every companies full of idiots. Ours (which will remain nameless) recently got admonished by one of our partner owners about some of our employees using their credit/debit cards in the airlines kiosks while trying to check in while flying NRSA.
I don't know what they thought using a credit card might get them from the kiosk, maybe the airline would fill up their bags with cash, perhaps <chuckle>...
