Best Deal for Thanksgiving Day Travel?

I'm travelling on Thanksgiving Day this year, November 28, and I'm wondering when is the best time of year to buy my airfare. As all good mileage runners are well aware, Thanksgiving day itself is historically a low-travel-volume day, with super-discount fares available. My question is: do I book a pretty good discount fare today (the "bird in the hand" scenario), or wait until Thanksgiving-day fares are announced? If I wait until later, when should I expect the airlines to announce their Thanksgiving Day fares?

I'm taking eight family members and myself from Richmond, VA (RIC) to MIA for a cruise, so any savings are "times nine!" I'm willing to travel to DCA, IAD, PHF or ORF for my departure, and FLL is okay as an alternative destination.

Currently, CO, US and DL are quoting $164 for travel between RIC (Richmond, VA) and FLL, and just about everybody (AA, US, CO, NW, DL, UA) are pricing DCA-MIA at $140. Help me decide whether to grab this sure thing, or wait for a better deal! (BTW, I don't consider Priceline or Hotwire to be practical alternatives for these particular flights).
