Florence to Pisa by train

Can anyone inform me about this trip? I have a flight out of Pisa airport and will be in Florence earlier that day. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

My normal source of information for European trains, the Deutsche Bahn website ( www.bahn.de ), seems to lack info on this route.

But Rick Steves' "Italy 2002" guidebook says (page 188) that there are about two trains per hour from Florence to Pisa, and the journey takes about an hour.

Too bad there is no website for the train. I'm just a little nervous that we are traveling on a Saturday and the trains may have a different schedule.

Thanks

There is a website at www.trenitalia.com .

I checked the route on a Saturday, and the trains are actually a bit MORE frequent than twice per hour. And the journey length on most is just over an hour, but on a few it's more than that. Just choose the train accordingly.

So, not to worry.

Kathy

P.S.: I have a self-interest here, as I plan to travel the same route later this year!

Rent a car. It is a very easy short (less than an hour) drive.

A lot more flexibilty to see things also.

I did this just two days ago.

When we honeymooned in Florence back in 99, we did a day trip to Pisa. Trains run frequently and it took an hour each way, not to mention the pretty train ride! No problem at all. I would recommended the trenesitalia site...I used it extensively to prepare for our trip (we flew into MIL, and also went to VCE and ROM).

Easy drive in Italy?! Any drive in Italy scares me. I love the trains, just hope there is no strike then...
