Orlando Suggestions

Crowne Plaza Orlando is offerng a deal for something like $70/night for a 1 bedroom suite...

We have 2 kids, so we beed a suite or 2 rooms...what's the best deal on something a bit more upscale, and how is this hotel anyway (may be too good to pass up)?

Why not post in the hotel section of the boards? Also do a net search for Disney boards and they can tell you all about hotels in the Orlando area.

Its been about 5 years since I was in orlando, but If you are planning on going to Disney World, might I suggest going to a hotel on WDW property. I know there are hundreds of hotels in Orlando, with many of them on International Drive, but that place is really a wild and crazy street. I stayed there a few years, but once I stayed inside the park, I never went back.
There are a lot of hotels on the park, and they range in price. If you get a hotel that is directly linked to the monorail you are going to pay a lot more for the room per night. Some of the hotels linked are The Grand Floridian, The Contemporary, The Polynesian. They are all wonderful hotels, but expect to pay a higher price. There are hotels which are not directly linked to the monorail, and you can get a good deal on some of the rooms. You can even rent little cabins.
I am in the process of looking for a hotel on the park,I am going to Disney World later this year with my boyfriend (If I am lucky it will be in December, I have never been there that time of year and I hear it is wonderful.) I am just having a difficult time deciding where to stay.
You can check out the hotels on the WDW site. It will show you what the grouds look like and what the rooms look like.
Hope this helps!

Good points, pointsgirl!
nologic, its hard to evaluate Orlando hotels. When we were there couple years back, I saw some properties which everywhere else would be considered "lower-end"; in Orlando, they were all-suites 12-15 story high gorgeous properties. I think hotel companies go all out when they build in Orlando, since demand is so high, and so are occupancy rates, I'm sure.
2 yrs ago we stayed in a new Holiday Inn Family Suites or smthng like that, at a supposedly very good rate of $129/night. We had 3 rooms (2BR), incl. TV, and Nintendo in kids' room. This was in July, and since we were playing at Disney Wide World of Sports, we stayed close to I-4 & parks, on International Dr. (it is wild!).
So, $70 a night, if you are not far from the parks, sounds like good deal.

I'd try Priceline and stay at 4 stars (3 ?).
