What do you do when you are delayed?
Chat, Eat, Drink Or Shop If Delayed - Survey Shows
A new survey in the United Kingdom has revealed that chatting is the most popular way to pass the time during airport delays, followed by reading, eating and drinking, and shopping.
People from north east England are those likeliest to chat to pass the time, while Scots are most keen on reading, the research by Churchill Insurance reveals.
Welsh holidaymakers tend to eat and drink the most when waiting for flights.
Young people aged 17 to 24 spend the most time in airport shops while women are nearly twice as likely as men to shop at airports.

Depending on the duration of the delay:
Short - hang out in the CO President's club, if there is one.
Medium - Explore the rest of the airport
Long - Catch a taxi into downtown, eat at a noted restaurant or something similar.

Some good news on dimishing delays!:
U.S. flight delays have fallen 5 percent in the first six months of 2001, compared with the same period a year ago when records were set for air travel frustration, new figures showed Thursday.
"We have a good story to tell this summer," Federal Aviation Administrator Jane Garvey told an air traffic summit. "And this is exactly where we want the trend to go."
Agency statistics showed 197,840 delays for the January-June period in 2001 compared with 207,100 for the same period a year ago.

It's the economy "stupid!"
Perhaps less folks, on fewer planes is playing a part in this!

National Geographic Traveler
When airline travelers are delayed between takeoffs, most say they find a place to have a drink while waiting for their flights.

I always have a book or two or needlework
to pass the time, plus sufficient water and food to avoid buying anything at inflated airport prices. The only thing I stand in line for is the ladies' room, and that can be quite a line!
