Tickets to "The Producers"

I will be traveling to NY several times over the next 4 months and would like to find tickets to "The Producers". I'm willing to pay a premium but don't won't to be scalped. Would also trade MR's. Any ideas?

Prepare to be scalped. The Producers -- especially now with 12 Tonys in the bag -- is the hottest show in New York in years.

Have you called the box office and asked about single seats? There were some great seats available when I checked last week.

Granted, you'll be seated aside strangers, but you weren't planning to talk during the performance, were you?????

I'll be in New York next week and settled for "The Lion King" as there were no tickets available for "The Producers" until September 2001, according to the ticket agency, not event single seats.

If you have a Gold American Express card, you might try giving them a call as they will sometimes have tickets that are released before the event. They day I called, they had none, however, it is worth a try to see this show, which as everyone now knows, is suppose to be fantastic.

Check ebay.

BTW for those thinking about buying tix for next year, Lane and Broderick are only (currently) contracted to do the show for a year (which would take them to April 2002). So if it's important to see them, be sure to get tix before that date.

there is a ticket broker in NY who has very reasonable prices for "scalped" tickets...I hav eno idea about producers but they were very helpful for lion king.

You can also talk to the folks at BroadwayCares/Equity fights AIDS as they offer house seats when they can for a decent markup and it goes to their charity.

I also was told on another baord that Matthew Broderick is leaving the show in November and not April but I don;t know how reliable that is.

According to Liz Smith today, houseguests of hers were able to get scalped tix outside the theater the day of for $100 a piece (balcony). I read a local (SF)reviewer found an unnamed on-line ticket broker based in Jersey that sold him Balcony seats for $120 a piece (before the Tonys). Good Luck.

PS:I saw the show in previews, the day of the Catman Do and feel it is well worth the price IMHO to see with Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick...can't imagine anyone else in those parts...well maybe Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel but I don't know if they can sing and Zero is dead.

PSS: I Just bought the VHS of the original and watched it again, it is hilarious too.

According to Telecharge, Broderick and Lane are contracted through March 17, 2002.

I wish you luck finding seats. Our tickets are for Feb 2002 and that's the balcony.

I was also fortunate enough to see this show in Chicago when it was in previews and it is soooo worth it! You've just GOT to see it w/ Nathan Lane & Matthew Broderick if at all possible! For anyone who is going to the show in the near future, would someone be willing to pick me up a program for it? Unfortunately, they didn't do programs for it in Chicago. Please email me if you're willing. Thanks!

Anna,

I'll be happy to pick up a copy of the program for you when I'm in NY next week, provided that I can get into the theatre shop without a ticket to the show.

I've seen it twice -- once in Chicago and in NYC. It's worth whatever you pay. DON'T listen to the CD before you see the show -- it gives away alot of the jokes, which are good ones, but even funnier when seeing show. Standing room goes on sale daily for the 20 or so standing "seats" -- be prepared to get there VERY early to have a chance at them. Enjoy!

I got VERY CLOSE to seeing it by standing in the no-show line outside. But they ran out of tickets before my turn came.
