Where to stay at Seattle?
Hi FT talkers,
I will be in Seattle for a day and am not too familiar with the Seattle area.
I want to stay at downtown... closer to the Pike Market or the Harbor side? Because I plan to take a couple ferry trips...
Any comment... I notice that there is a Seattle Hilton and couple West Coast hotels.
Any reommendations...
Thanks,
Carfield

Try the Inn at the Market - superb location right in the heart of the Pike Place Market.
Also, the Alexis is very close to the waterfront, but really most of the downtown hotels are within walking distance: The Madison Renaissance, Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Four Seasons, W, Monaco, Cavanaughs, Sheraton and Westin are all downtown.

I second the suggestions about the Inn At the Market and the Alexis. Also, up the hill a few blocks from the Alexis, is the Hotel Vintage Park, one of the Kimpton Group properties. I'm not sure if there is a Monaco in Seattle, but the Monaco in SF is also a Kimpton property IIRC.

There is a Monaco in Seattle and a very nice one. For local flavor, though, a third vote for the Inn at the Market -- I work one block from there. Also try The Edgewater, which is built on a pier jutting into Elliot Bay.

I was in Seattle in Feb. and really enjoyed the Westin. It's easy walking distance to Pike Market, Nordstroms, Space Needle, lots of restaurants, etc. and the monorail runs right by the hotel--lots of taxis too. The room was lovely with a view of the water, and those beds Westin is braging about really are nice. I'd definitely return.

The Inn is on a hill near the market!
The Monaco & Alexis are both wonderful properties, IMHO!
FWIW, I do not care for the Hilton but have not stayed there for about 8-9 years now!
Enjoy your stay in a great city!

Carfield, before I had another home here, I stayed in all of the following. All were nice hotels. I used to come weekly.
Also, you might use http://seattle.citysearch.com for what else is happening. You're coming for the first flight of the AS Boeing 737-900, right?
