What to expect from Cathay Pacific?
I'm travelling LHR-HKG-SYD and CNS-HKG-LHR on CX (economy). What can I expect from them in terms of service, inflight entertainment, food etc?

I flew CX in March. I was all the way in the back. I didn't have any problems with them. The food was standard type airline food; and some Asian selections. I was surprised to get a little ammenity kit, as I thought these were given out 'up front' only.
The flight att's were very responsive.
You rang, ... they ran. I always thought that call button was there to provide music.
I took a peek upstairs, looked very good too!

I used to fly CX in Y several times a year. The service is good (got a head ache once and the staff was quite helpful) as is the entertainment system, but IMO the food leaves a lot to be desired.

The food in general is very good. They even pass out menus on the long haul flights.
Between meals, they have a self service snack bar set up in one of the galley's where you can get noodles, sandwiches, or chips/cookies.
CX offers one of the best coach products out there.

I traveled-4-free on a 45K reduced AA coach award on them between YVR and HKG on the 747-400. Without even my asking, a gate agent blocked out a center section row for me - so I stretched out and got in a good 8 hours shut eye. I liked that!
Two full meals were served
, plus a mid-flight snack of sandwiches (cucumber veggie
or noodle cup-a-soup (it was instant, yuch!
).
F/A's were very efficient, and polite, but not very friendly. (And by that, I mean that they were not the 'Chatty Cathy' type with customers in the galley). They seemed to be quite good at keeping everybody well hydrated during the trip. I liked the menu -with the Chinese script - and the flair that CX seems to be able to add to it. An amenity kit is always appreciated, even if the contents are meager!
I found seating on the Airbus beyond HKG quite tight in coach.
I recommend them. But, coach IS coach!

I bought the CX ticket because it was the cheapest (US$800 roundtrip from Denmark to Australia, flying SK to/from LHR). I guess I got lucky this time
