SEA operations changes
I haven't been down to Sea-Tac airport yet, but I thought I saw an AA 744 on approach as I was driving to work in downtown. Have the airlines substituted larger aircraft since ATC can only handle half the volume of landing as normal because of damage to the control tower?

UA is using some 744 to take up the slack on the SFO Shuttle route so they can move the backlog of people that missed thier flights when the airport closed.

I flew the shuttle SEA-SFO on 3/1. UA brought in a 747-400 from SFO that was going to SYD later that night. Using this plane for the shuttle was a surreal experience--Upstairs, empower, noise-canceling headphones, arrival at the international terminal. Service was more shuttle like--a plastic cup of juice, bag of snacks, but lots of those small liquor bottles for those so inclined.

Are airlines using bigger planes with less frequency at SEA now, while they wait for the airport service to pick up? I mean, until they can land and take off more often then about 20 planes per hour, are they going to keep operating with larger planes, but less often--ie UA Shuttle service would be done with 747, 767, etc and less often?

I had no problem whatsoever with my outbound flight, but the return is a mess.
We hung out in PDX for 3 hours waiting for word from SEA that we could take off. If only I had known I could have driven.
We have (in our company) 28 round trips in and out of SEA this coming week so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
