I flew the shuttle SEA-SFO on 3/1. UA brought in a 747-400 from SFO that was going to SYD later that night. Using this plane for the shuttle was a surreal experience--Upstairs, empower, noise-canceling headphones, arrival at the international terminal. Could you determine how United was handling the seating, considering they are using a 3-class international jet for a normal 2-class subpar service? Were both premium cabins considered First Class (as far as how to get there goes...i.e., certs for PremEx and Premier), and just the 1Ks and/or full-fares got to sit in the real First Class?
