Is Everbody a Weekday User on Work Time?

Is it just me or does it seem the volume of posts go down sharply on weekends? Maybe because of SuperBowl, this weekend is low, but I've noticed that the posts are a lot less on weekends. Is it the spouse/better half cutting you off on weekends or were your weekday posts on company time? This is not a nasty post, but one of curiosity. How many users do most of their cruising on the internet on company time? I'm about 50/50.

I'll fess up (to a point). I do surf to FT several times throughout the work day. FlyerTalk is a fantastic source of news and helps me keep an ear to what's happening within the industry. Since I work in Aviation Consulting, believe it or not, it's part of my job description to keep up with such things. As a lover of aviation news and current events, I find it's somewhat impressive to be able to add to conversation with "the latest and greatest."

And, of course, while I do stop through and browse from time to time, I don't spend hours here either. On weekdays, I typically check on a few of my favorites (The Buzz, In the News, Delta, and United). On weekends, I browse the rest of what I find interesting (such as replying here in General Travel Talk today). I look forward to reading Trip Reports on the weekend as well. Typically, those are too long (yet very absorbing), so I generally leave those for when I have more time. It's such a joy to have so many wonderful posts from fellow travel enthusiasts!

I am the opposite. My home notebook has more
memory than at work (for now !). and a cable
modem connection in a location where not many residents are likely to have CM. So relatively my effective bandwidth here is better than at work ;-)

So do I. I thought the opposite, funnily enough, the posts seemed to go up at weekends?

What I can say about this is, that I check FT far more during the week than on my 1 1/2 day weekends.

And, I make no secret of it to my employer. I don't know how much money I have saved them as a direct result of info picked up here.

Furthermore, while it's not directly accountable in dollars and cents, the tips I get here surely do help make my air life earier and prevent "burn-out." Well worth the time, both to my employer and myself!h

Well since I'm logged in to the network all day, yes I do this more from work but I also try to hit it Sat or sunday from home too. Yes my spouse says, are you on that travel bulletin board again... little does she realize it provides her with many benefits too. However the bulk of my time is from work, and people wonder why I don't post my email etc.. LOL

I normally check FT once or twice a day on weekdays and many times each weekend, that is why i think posting is down on weekends, because i check 4 times a day and there is less new stuff to peruse.

Given this reading pattern, do you basically ignore the red-vs-yellow folders indicating threads which are newer than the last time you visited FlyerTalk?

We work mostly out of our house, so the question doesn't really apply. We're often travelling on business on weekends, and too busy to get on-line, but when I have logged on during the weekend, it has seemed slower than usual to me, or at least the Delta and Marriott forums seem slower.

OTOH, I had made exactly one post on FlyerTalk, and within an hour got some e-mail from a friend a couple of states away - who was at work. He's been a lurker for a long time apparently. Said he looks in fairly often, when he's running some long program and has nothing else to do.

My husband was also a lurker for a long time, and then I started reading FlyerTalk and began posting almost immediately. Now he's on too, which is fun.

I basically ignore the red and yellow folder stuff, and the light bulbs. We have 3 computers in this room, so the information that something's new since someone last logged on on a particular machine is usually incorrect anyway.

I hurriedly scan FT -- especially the AA board -- once or twice during the business day, then dig deeper into subjects of interest when I have time on weekends.

pshuang -- Here I am contradicting my post by browsing General Travel Talk during a work day... But hey, it's Friday!

To answer your question -- yes, I do ignore the red and yellow folders from home. Because I check less often from home, there are often so many red folders that I'd never get through them all! Rather, I just read and reply to what interests me at the time.
