Hi, does anyone know if there's a sleeper train from Rome to Venice? Thanks.

Don't think so, as the trip is only about 4 1/2 hours or so, but you can double-check at raileurope or trenitalia websites.

Yes, there is a sleeper train from Rome to Trieste, via Venice Santa Lucia (actually it starts in Naples at 7:30 p.m., leaves Rome Tiburtina at 10:20, and arrives in Venice at 5:55 a.m. It has sleepers and seats cars.

Yes, I found it. Trenitalia gives more info than Raileurope.
Thanks again.

I'll never forget when we were teenagers and travelling with my family in Italy one summer on vacation. We went from Rome to Florence to Venice. One of my sisters was scheduled to return from Rome to New York to attend a dance while the rest of the family was going on to Yugoslavia.

My parents, being the caring folks they are, booked my sister a single, first-class sleeper car ticket from Venice to Rome. I'll never forget walking up to the 1st class sleeper car, passing all the 2nd class cars along the platform, only to arrive at this beautiful, shiny blue railcar. There was a porter there to escort her onboard to her private, wood-paneled cabin. The airconditioning was at full-blast, wool tartan plaid blankets covered the full-size bed. From what I recall she had an incredible ride by herself down to Rome. Of course she flew back in business class on Pan Am.

We teased her quite a bit after that about being the favorite child and somewhat spoiled.

My other sister and I continued with my parents in a rented Zastava 1000 car to the former Yugoslavia. That was an incredible trip too.
