yes, emailman and i were to meet for the first time at the zurich airport by identifying each other's FT tags... (some secret society we are in!)
mine was broken off (checked baggage), luckily emailman has his neatly tied and placed on his brief....case...
if not, we wouldn't have been able to find each other, Rudi wouldn't have found us, and most regretfully, i would have missed DUS!
and from now on, i am going to carry EXTRA tags with me because they DO break off easily...
so far no one has come up to me to say hi because of the FT tags... (other reasons, yes )

The FT luggage tag is a bit "fragile".

Now the Old Gold FT Luggage Tag is a different story. That baby can withstand anything - earthquakes, typhoons, LGA, hurricanes, aborted take-offs, FT pub crawls!

I guess my FT luggage tag is made of some sort undesructible material. Still in one piece!

I am still waiting for my first FT Luggage Tag encounter though

I guess I had known for a while that these tags are available, but I appreciate you're bringing them to my (and everyone elses) attention. I think it would be pretty cool to have an "FT experience" while waiting in the airport!

Yes, I love the FT tags, but they are fragile things ... keep ordering them nonetheless.

My tag was bent in half on the first trip, it took.
The Second trip added a crack just below the hole. It is about 1/2 way across the tag.

Will I get compensated? I ordered 10 of them. Didn't realize I might have to use them all before long.

essxjay -- I'm with you. The tags are indeed fragile...

My first one was torn in half as I lifted my laptop case from under the seat in front of me. It merely snagged between the tray-table and the seat pocket (for all of a milli-second). Next thing I noticed was my business card floating to the ground. Most other tags I've had can withstand some pretty harsh treatment; but these sure can't!

Nevertheless, I enjoy having it on my bag, just in case I happen to run into a fellow flyertalker!

After my first tag broke on checked-through bags, I now display them prominently only on my hand luggage. However, still waiting for that first FT encounter!!

So has anyone brought this to Randy's attention? A few years ago I officiated the Copper Bowl and they gave us nice luggage tags, but they all cracked at the top I managed to snag one just as it broke to have this small momento of the game, which is now called something else.

Why not glue two of the fragile one's together for additional strength. They might last that way long enough until Randy sends us our solid platinum ones when we get to our
10,000 post--complimentary, of course.
Just kidding, Randy, but how 'bout making sturdier tags, so i can order some.

I've had some interesting unexpected airport experiences, meeting people who spotted the service pin for the campus/community service fraternity I belong to (Alpha Phi Omega). We're talking a pin smaller than the nail of your pinkie finger. They must have had eagle eyes....
