Narita layover
I would appreciate knowing the hotels around Narita Airport for a layover a day or two.
After that 6AM flight from BKK, I appreciate a dinner and a real bed to start the last leg rested.

If you are just looking for a bed close to the airport, there appears to be several hotels within walking distance from the train station in Narita Town, a 10 minute, easy train ride for the airport.

There's a Radisson with free shuttle.
The best rate I could find a year ago was for ANA mileage club members - so I zipped over to the ANA website, signed up and got my number then went back to the Radisson site and booked. It saved me about $60.

Holiday Inn at the airport is fine--half hourly shuttle to airport, half hourly shuttle to Narita JR station, lots of flight crews there. The spa is intriguing--costs extra but fun to take a Japanese bath. About $99 booked at the airport.

I had two long layovers at Narita when I flew JAL between DFW and Singapore. On the way over we arrived at Narita around 5:30 PM and the flight to Singapore was not until the next afternoon at 1:00, so JAL gave us complimentary rooms and a breakfast buffet at the Nikko Narita. On the way back our flight arrived at 6:00 AM and our onward connection was not until 3:30 PM, so they gave us complimentary Day Rooms. If you are lucky enough to be on JAL, be sure to ask for the complimentary rooms.

Technically I don't think this can be considered "self-promotion," as I am not getting anything out of it.... but we are having a small "layover-get together" on 12/1-2 at the Nikko Narita Winds.
Info can be found at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000680.html
(Just in case you were contemplating a "run.")
Complimentary JAL rooms certainly don't sound too bad, either. I wonder if ANA has a similar "service."

Some of the ex-Aussie flights have complimentary hotel rooms for both JAL and ANA. This is due to the scheduling that some destinations require an overnight stay for conection.
Hey KP, have fun with the get together, sorry I can't make it, I've got a Paris flight to catch...
