What do you do?
This is a bit off topic, I'm sure, but I've got a question for the group:
I'm in the middle of a career change, and have the luxury of being able to take a few months off until I have to find another job. At this time in my life, a job that offers a lot of travel opportunites, particularly internationally, sounds appealing.
However, it's hard to find info on what kind of jobs allow this, so I'm curious: For all you road warriors out there, what do you do?
Thanks a bunch,
Jon

Scott the flier had asked what my career was currently, so you all could make suggestions.
Currently, I'm a Quality Assurance Engineer for a software company, and my primary job has been running our team that resolves product defects found out in the field, typically from customer sites that are beginning to get a little...irate, I think would be the best term.
Doing this, I've built up a lot of experience with Windows NT (including a bit of Win2k), Exchange, PBX experience (both circuit based and IP based), and have done a lot of systems analysis, planning, and implementation.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for, to tell the truth. Part of me wants to get away from the whole computer gig altogether, but the other part of me is really happy with how well it pays.

Foreign Service Officer. (Not as much travel as you might think. I get to live abroad, but I don't commute a lot!).
As of this summer I am resigning and moving back into private legal practice. Lot's of work in Asia, esp. China and Indonesia.

Since I am of feline nature, I have NINE lives... so I do NINE things:
1. News person (as Mark)
2. Flyertalk contributor (as Catman)
3. Police officer (as CMDR CATCOP)
4. The Catfather (the name explains it all)
5. Peaceful easy feeling kitty (to ease tensions on the board)
6. Father (to Yaz and Eddie)
7. Everyone's best Friend and Bruddar to some special friends (those who know me know what this means)
8. Catman's Ghost (who comes out once a year on Halloween)
9. Someone who tries to find something wonderful in everyday I am alive, who loves the simple things in life... simple someone who loves life!

I've found one of the best resources is the internet so why not try a few of the job boards that are out there:
http://www.monster.com
http://www.dice.com
http://www.hotjobs.com
These are just a few but I know from experience that they are good and reputable boards. Good luck and welcome to FT.
Cheers Scott

How about the airline industry?
Driver, engineer and flight attendent fly a lot! Security, Corporate varies. Any job gets you free/discount personal/family air flights, and as many on this board know, upgrades in preference to paying passengers!

I am an Internet start up guy. I started this business about 20 months ago. It's been going great. I get to commute between SFO/LAX/IAD every week
I strongly believe that you should do what you enjoy. Find out what that is. Don't do things for the money, do them because they're neat for you to do. That to me is success.
