Latest DOT Flight Cancellation Data

Here is the latest (Feb 2000) DOT data on cancelled flights by the top 10 USA airlines. Southwest and Continental have the lowest percent of flights cancelled.

Unfortunately Alaska cancelled about 1 in 12 flights and AmericaWest and United cancelled 5.8% and 5.3% respectively. Ugh!!

Well...Alaska had 8 planes out of service due to the MD-80 inspections. Many of their flights were "pre-cancelled."

United had very poor weather in hub cities.
And, Shuttle probably drags the stats down a bit.

But, America West? No MD-80s, and the weather in Phoenix was not particularily bad. I have a feeling 5-6% is almost normal for them
