Bringing forward since someone just asked about it!

Also, if you golf:

America West Golf Vacations announced today that Monterey, Calif., is now available as a destination for golf vacation packages. Packages offer vacation components such as guaranteed tee times up to 120 days in advance on some of the country's most prestigious golf courses, cart and green fees, golf instruction, roundtrip air transportation, rental car and hotel accommodations.

What is the best scenic route to drive from SFO to Monterey?

thanks.
Highway 1 down the coastline is excellent, so is Highway 17 through the redwood forests, down to Santa Cruz and then Hwy 1 to Monterey.
