I was at Angkor a couple weeks ago and highly recommend a stay at Angkor Village. It's a beautifully built and decorated small inn with 20 or so lovely rooms built of burnished wood in a very leafy compound off a small street. Rooms are nicely furnished (AC is mandatory -- it was over 100 degrees every day we were there), beautiful swimming pool, lovely sitting areas filled with antiques and ceiling fans. It's $75/night (very steep for Cambodia, but nowhere near the $300 that the Grand Hotel charges) and worth every penny.

I spent 5 days in Siem Reap last fall, incredible place. You need at least 3 days to really see all of Angkor Wat. I would righly recommend you get a guide to take you around to see all the temples. It covers real large area. I stayed in a nice little Japanese run hotel for $30 a night, real nice and clean with ac. I will email you the name of the hotel,as its at home and I can't remember the name. I can also furnish you a name of a guide who speaks english very well and know the temples and history of the areas. Its a special place, you should really enjoy your time there.

The Grand Hotel is reported to be great. Friends stayed there in January and werevery happy. Since I am travelling with family and need more than one room, price is a factor for me.
