I was at Angkor a couple weeks ago and highly recommend a stay at Angkor Village. It's a beautifully built and decorated small inn with 20 or so lovely rooms built of burnished wood in a very leafy compound off a small street. Rooms are nicely furnished (AC is mandatory -- it was over 100 degrees every day we were there), beautiful swimming pool, lovely sitting areas filled with antiques and ceiling fans. It's $75/night (very steep for Cambodia, but nowhere near the $300 that the Grand Hotel charges) and worth every penny.
