Rough Guides online
Rather than just flogging sales of their travel guide series, Rough Guides have recently put a lot of their content on the web. Their descriptive narratives on destinations are usually quite candid and pretty accurate, though their accomodation listings tend towards the budget end.

Checked Rough out once or twice and found it to be one of the better ones as you say, with emphasis on budget as again you said. However, the biggest problem with it, like all of them, is that they tend to be a year or two behind and thus often leave out the best newer places!
