wedding upgrades

My fiancee and I are traveling to Fiji for our wedding and honeymoon. Does anyone have any tips as to how we can possibly get an upgrade from our coach tickets - somebody told me that telling them we are on our way to our wedding should do the trick, but I would like some other thoughts, if possible.

Thanks in advance!
Marty

Perhaps it would help if you specified the airline you're flying and whether you have status/miles with any FF program. Upgrades aren't given out for "good will" like they used to be. If you have no miles with which to upgrade, or you haven't yet pruchased the tickets, you might look into international airline consolidators that sell F/J/C tickets at a hefty discount.

Foolish me. I thought this topic was about marrying someone wealthier the second time around.

Never mind.

Wideman: thank you for my hefty laugh so early in the morning. FT's always make my day.
